Frank Powell

Frank Powell is an award-winning songwriter, performer, and native of Central Illinois. He began writing songs at the age of 17, and has played guitar and performed in clubs and coffeehouses for over thirty years. He began performing professionally at The Gallery in Normal, Illinois in 1978.

His song "A Better Way to Say Goodbye" was performed by Gene Paul Manns in 1995 and is available on Missile Records. His song "Leave the Leavin'" was published by Go Star Records in Baltimore in 1997, and his song "Since You Left What's Left of Me" was published by Woodrich Publishing in Lexington, Alabama in 1990. He also wrote for Rusty Stratton on the California Country label. In total, Frank has copyrights for over one hundred songs.

Three of Frank's songs have received radio air time. "A Better Way to Say Goodbye," performed by Gene Paul Manns, and "Cop Out on the Beat" were played on local radio, and "Tell Me Billy," performed by Caution, was played on the air in Pensacola, Florida.

Two of Frank's songs were featured on Art International Radio as part of a radio theatre play. "Gotta Start Somewhere" and "Finding Our Way in the Night" can be heard in the presentation of Bargaining, which first aired August 31, 2009.

Frank has performed with several local bands, including: Alias Smith & Jones, Hegemony Cricket, Snappy Banter, the Mad Cowboys, and Neon Cactus. Frank has performed at dozens of venues in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and as far away as Nebraska.
