Lie to Me
By Kellie Powell

"tips her hand." A harmless game soon turns into a series of surprising revelations.

EMILY
Why are you so good at this?
JOANNE
Because I can read people. I was briefly a psychology major.
EMILY
Is... is that one of the three? I mean -
JOANNE
No, I was just making conversation. But you're catching on. Ready?
EMILY
Go.
JOANNE
For most of the first night I met you, I thought your name was Brooke. I worked for Best Buy for
almost a month one summer. And... I've never had more than a thousand dollars in my checking account,
in my entire life.
EMILY
I'd be surprised you never mentioned it before now... Of course, you're really not that forthcoming.
JOANNE
Not traditionally.
EMILY
How is it that we've known each other for more than a year, and I know so little about you?
JOANNE
You know more about me, after knowing me for a year, than some people know after ten.
