SUMMARY: That Was Then is a memory play about high school. Rachel, the narrator, introduces
herself and her circle of friends, including Natalie, "the virgin slut," Brandon, the enigmatic
cynic, Jack, the hopeless romantic, and Seth, who is struggling with the realization that he is gay.
Mostly, Rachel tells the story of "growing up with people, having their lives become entwined in
yours."
CAST: 3 Men, 3 Women. (Doubling of some parts would be possible.)

Natalie was a physical person, in need of physical attention. She was never a whore, a slut; that
was... well, it wasn't true, but there was a reasoning behind it... I used to call Natalie
"the virgin slut," because in all of her interactions with guys, she seemed to promise a lot,

Nothing! She was a tease.
RACHEL
Maybe she was. She was definitely a flirt. I don't really know whether or not she meant to be...
NATALIE
Sometimes I hit on people and I don't even realize it.
RACHEL
She had to know, though. She had to know what she was doing. And even if she didn't, that doesn't
mean she wasn't responsible.
